2006/6/24〜27 OKINAWA KOZO OKUBO

I am very excited as the domestic GTs are hot this year.

So, lets see what Okinawa has to offer this time.

The fish were very in-active on the first day, and I managed to hook up the single tiny splash of a bite.

Maeda Captain landed the fish for me and is taking off the hook.

The little over 10kg GT was caught by carefully checking out the 60m point.

However, the tackle used was designed to land massive GTs, and the fish landed was valuable.

Finally, a big fish attacked my lure on the next day.
The fish attacked my lure immediately after the lure landed, and could evidently see the massive fish.

When there was 5m left, I was able to see a massive shark tailing the GT.
The GT was approximately 50 ? 55kgs and the shark 3.5m.
I had to do something, so I lifted with all my strength.

The shark approached the GT, and immediately the double leader broke.

The breakage was due to the shark trying to take the G-Cup (Hair-tail)
which was hooked up nicely near the mouth of the GT.

To be honest, this was something I did not expect or assume.
I was able to realize that such accidents can happen.

I put my head together and managed to hook up on the next drift of the boat.

Unfortunately, it was approx 12kg.

I hooked up again on the last drift late in the afternoon.

I hooked it up at approx 50m depth, but the strong fish took out a good bit of line!

I successfully lifted and surfaced the fish in 5 minutes, and the captain netted it in 1 go.

The GT and low-light orange G-cup was shining nicely in the setting sun.

Not the fish I was after but a good 34kg GT.
The fish caught by the pure dedication, accurate reading, of Captain Maeda.
I want to catch a bigger GT.
