2006/09 Chooja, Korea KOZO OKUBO

I went to Chooja again this year.

The previous trip to Chooja a month ago in Aug,
we were betrayed by the Kingfish which were suppose to be active on the top-water lures.

The water temperature was over 30, actually near 31 and 32 degrees which is unbelievable.
The Kingfish could not be seen on the surface and probably due to the lower water temperatures in deeper waters,
they seemed to be more active below. In these conditions,
I managed to pull out 2 Tuna which happened to be feeding on the surface.

Baby Blue-Fin Tuna.
In addition, this lure was developed to catch Tunas.
The first catch of the
“Chopper 69” prototype lure was this Tuna!
This was one of the first Tuna’s to be caught in Korea,
and it was the talk of town throughout the cyberspace community in Korea
.

I was able to catch another one with the next feeding frenzy.
“Chopper69” has plenty of potential.

Mr. Yamada from JST hooked up a nice fish with the A-Cup.
It was a Cobia. This was also the first one in Korea.

Casting the A-Cup in the feeding frenzy, I caught 3 bonito’s in a row.

At the very end, we spotted fish feeding on the surface and I managed to cast accurately in the area.
It was a prized fish as this was the mail target. Caught on Sharapoa.

The above were the fish caught on Top-water lures during the trip in August.

So, lets see how the conditions changed in Chooja after a 1 month interval.

When the current started to move, a massive Nabura surfaced.
The captain casted immediately and hooked up.

It was an 80cm yellow-tail.
Caught on the Forb A-Cup (Hair-tail color 35).

This Nabura was the long awaited Nabura which was feeding on the baby Hair-Tails (approx 40cm).
As soon as this is the set pattern, the A-Cup Hair-Tail color is super strong.

Approx 60~70 Kingfish and 8~10kg class Yellow-tails were fighting over 1 lure!!

I also hooked up on my next cast with the Sharapoa.
As soon as we cast poppers, a huge school of fish surface and attack the lure.
These conditions continued for some time!!

It is an exciting game as the fish run furiously in the strong currents.

As soon as we catch one, we get the boat to go up the current, and start casting again.

Then we get immediate results.
I hardly had time to take photos, so this is only a hand full of photos.

Unfortunately, the lure and the head of the fish was cut out of the picture,
but both fish were caught on the “A-Cup Hair-tail color.

We head up current again. Another fish!! It seems big!

It was a Yellow-Tail caught on the “Chopper69” prototype.

Another double catch with the “A-Cup Hair-Tail color.

Considering these conditions, I thought that we would be able to do anything,
so I actually aimed for a double catch!
Caught on the “Chopper69”.

The wind picked up, so I used the A-Cup long-cast version (prototype).

I tried casting the “Chopper69”  Hair-Tail color, and as expected, I got results from the first cast.

Next was a double catch by Smiths tester and my single catch. Triple catch???

The next day, the sea had changed considerably, and the action was very quiet in the morning.
This is what fishing is all about.

The last chance in the afternoon.
I managed to land a 10kg over Kingfish with the A-Cup.

copyright(c) south times all rights reserved.
I also hooked up a big one with my next cast.

copyright(c) south times all rights reserved.
Size up! Great size Kingfish.

copyright(c) south times all rights reserved.
I caught another good size kingfish on the “Chopper69” prototype.

copyright(c) south times all rights reserved.
Although it was a smaller one, double catch!!

I added another to the list at the ending! Caught on the “Chopper69” prototype.
