2006/SEP/22〜25 TOKARA GTSP KOZO OKUBO

The final Tokara GT special tour of the year.

It has been 3 months since visiting these waters.
My concern for this last GT special was the large typhoons which were lurking around
in the
Japan sea, and how much swell is left over.

The Marine Challenger boat I had seen 3 months ago had changed and had been renewed.

This new Marine Challenger has installed 2 new 570hp engines.
In addition, for further safer fishing, a safety barbas has also been installed.

May be due to the affects of the typhoon, we got no bites on the first day.

Next day, we cast, cast and cast.
To get to the point, only Mr. Hanada was able to land a blue-fin trevally.
(I got a bite from what looked to be a large GT, but could not hookup)

The next day, the swell left from the typhoon had not receded, and was a challenging day with high waves.
However, I finally got a bite from a large GT past noon.

It was a challenging location with depths of only 7m, but I managed to hook up,
and able to guide the fish to the depths I had aimed for.

I had difficulty as the fish had amazing power,
but was able to lift the fish and landed after approx 7 minutes.

The fish was 136cm and 41kg.It was a fat GT considering the length.

It was a bite with the test lure “Choppper69”.

”CHOPPER169”(PROTO)

I would like to thank Captain Kudo and the rest of the anglers on board

When slowly returning to the point up-current,
Mr. Sano hooked up something with Sharapoa he was trawling.

Finally, the fish had surfaced and Captain Kudo landed the fish.

He is the character who has hooked up and landed the fish at each GT special tour. 100% hit rate!
It was a 152cm, 49kg GT caught on the G-Cup.
This is Mr. Sugiyama’s favorite lure.
And great choice of the Low-light orange color.
Congratulations Mr. Sugiyama!!

As the sun fell, I changed to the Low-light orange as well, and hooked something!!

It didn’t fight as hard as a GT.
After a 2 minute fight, it was a 35kg Tokara Yellow-Fin tuna caught on the G-Cup.

At the final run on the final day, I hooked up again!

As it was a very shallow point, I was a little worried, but as it was only a small GT, it was successfully landed.
